Chinese chipmaker Loongson has spoken about the alleged world leader among next-gen 7nm CPUs. It will most likely be an octa-core chip and should be launched in 2025.
A Loongson executive showed off the 3B6600 processor at a meeting with investors. The new processor models of this Chinese manufacturer could be potential competition for Intel a AMD. Most of the questions were about the architecture used in this upcoming processor, which the company claims will be the market leader in terms of single-core performance. The executive didn’t release a specific description of the architecture, but said it was significantly modified compared to previous models.
Previous information from Loongson suggests that it could be an octa-core processor clocked at 3.0GHz along with LG200 integrated graphics. A faster 3B7000 model with a frequency of 3.5 GHz is also in preparation.
The last question that was answered was the release date of the chip. The executive said that this should happen in the first half of 2025. Mass-produced chips should then hit the market in the second half of the same year.
