Although summer is not over, many households have already provided firewood for the winter. Wood and pellets are cheaper compared to the last heating season, but there are fewer customers. Due to the mild winter, citizens have some supplies left, so sellers in the south of Serbia complain that their business has dropped significantly.
The offer is good, the prices are lower, but there are fewer customers.
Smaller quantities are also bought, many bought their supplies back in May or June, now only a few ask for firewood.
“Well, probably because the winter was weaker this year. And the pellet is cheaper. This year it is now 6,000, there are some who give less, and last year there were about eight,” firewood seller Nemanja Jovanović told Euronews Serbia.
“Because there are a lot of sellers, I don’t know, a weaker winter,” says another firewood seller, Milan Kostić.
In Niš, a cubic meter of firewood is sold for a maximum of 7,000 dinars.
Pellet is requested again
We are looking for pellets again, because the price has dropped significantly compared to the last heating season.
“Deni plus” pellet seller Daniel Stojanović says that the prices are from 24,000 to 27,000 per ton, depending on the producer, and that last year they were 33,000-34,000.
He told Euronews Serbia that the offer is good and that there is plenty in stock.
“They buy less, the winters were quite mild and everyone had enough left over,” said Stojanović.
Those who use coal this season will pay 25 percent more per ton.
“When all that is added together with transportation costs, the price for lignite types is from 15,000 to 19,000 dinars, and for brown coal for boilers it is from 19,000 to 25,000 dinars. Due to the weather as it was, the real intensive demand for coal in the supply of larger consumers is just beginning,” says coal distributor Monicam ad Slaviša Stojković.
Discounts are provided for smaller consumers – installment sales.
In order to save money, some manage by combining several energy sources.
More and more citizens invest in better insulation, and warmer winters certainly benefit everyone.
