Preparations for the Balkan Championship, which will be held in November in the “Lagator” hall (Loznica), are taking a long time. On this occasion, a media conference was held in the City Administration of Loznica on Friday.
The president of the Boxing Association of Serbia, Nenad Borovčanin, pointed out that all visitors will enjoy top boxing.
– In such a partnership, it is easy to organize a competition, especially bearing in mind that the fights will be broadcast directly on TV Arena Fight, also to our partner, and that viewers throughout the region will have the opportunity to follow all the matches, and that the viewers in the “Lagator” hall will have the opportunity to enjoy the ultimate fights. The grand opening is on November 18 with a top stage, musical and cultural-artistic program, and the city and the audience of Loznica certainly deserve it. I believe that the hall will be as full as it used to be, because “Lagator” is the “temple of boxing” and I am sure that this will be confirmed at the Balkan Championship – said Borovčanin.
The city manager of the city of Loznica, Dejan Stalović, did not hide his satisfaction that Loznica will host a major competition.
– We are ready to organize the championship, we have enough experience, knowledge and capacity to organize a big sports event, both for our city and for our country. Of course, the city will have multiple benefits from the organization of the Balkan Championship, first of all, in terms of promotion, occupancy of tourist and catering facilities, but also in the inflow of money into our budget. In the past few years, together with the Boxing Association of Serbia (BSS), we have organized a series of quality tournaments, and in cooperation with other sports associations, several other significant sports events, whether in futsal, handball or some other sport. – said Stalović and added that this time Loznica will show that it is a city of sports and that it is a good host.
Our European champion in boxing, Sara Ćirković, expects great support from the people of Loznica, but also from people from her native Bratunac.
– I am sure that the Balkan Championship is not held in Loznica so that I would not participate, but Loznica is also my city and I am sure that many people from Zvornik and Bratunac will come to support us and I will repay them and thank them in the ring. Thanks to my coach Mirko Ždral, BSS and Nenad Borovčanin, without whose support it would have been a little harder to achieve all that I have achieved – said Sara.
Milan Piperski, coach of the men’s national team of Serbia, expressed great satisfaction that he is in Loznica and that the Balkan Championship will be held in that city.
–This is the biggest event in the history of this city when it comes to boxing, and Loznica and boxing fans in this city certainly deserve it. Our team will be composed of young and promising guys and girls. It is certain that they will be ready and motivated to represent our country with dignity, as they have done so far. We may expect too much from them, but we certainly hope for a good result– Piperski said.
European vice-champion Rastko Simić also expressed his satisfaction that the championship is being held in his city.
– I have high expectations when it comes to me, but also when it comes to the Serbian national team. I believe that the organization and matches will be excellent and that a strong tournament awaits us. I would tell the spectators to come in as many as possible and to support us in the fight for a medal. I have boxed in many countries, but there is no such audience as in Loznica – Simic pointed out.
Loznica will host the best boxers of the region in the legendary hall “Lagator” from November 16 to 24 at an event held under the patronage of the European Boxing Confederation.
