Lewis Hamilton could soon be moving to the MotoGP paddock, but not as a rider. Namely, reports suggest that he wants to buy Ducati’s satellite team, Gresini Racing.
Rumors first started over the weekend at Assen in the Netherlands, and while nothing official has been announced, sources say there is more than just interest.
According to available information, the event was attended by a member of Hamilton’s inner circle, potentially with the sole intention of looking at the team and the viability of his purchase.
Gresini Racing is based in Faenza, Italy, and is currently run by Nadija Padovani, the widow of team founder Fausto Gresini. Gresini died in 2021 after complications caused by covid. He founded the team in 1991.
The timing of the rumors comes during a period of strong results for Gresini, whose colors are led by brothers Alex and Marc Marquez who have become mainstays in the standings. The stability in the team and the obvious commercial opportunities could raise the interest of F1 drivers in this move.
