The Chinese are slowly coming. There are more and more car brands from this country on our market. The latest in the series is Lynk & Co, a brand owned by Geely. Given that Geely is the owner of Volvo cars, and also owns Lotus, Polestar, Smart and has a large stake in the Daimler company, it is no wonder that they took over the complete engineering from the Swedes.
The first Lynk & Co model in Serbia is labeled “01”. It is a plug-in hybrid that is built on the mechanical platform of the Volvo XC40. It is slightly longer and more spacious than him. It is powered by a combination of a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor with a total system power of 262 hp. The battery with a capacity of 17.6 kWh provides a long range of almost 80 kilometers of city driving. On the AC charger, it supports charging with a power of 7.2 kW.
Given that it shares the same mechanical platform as the Volvo, the Lynk & Co 01 rolls off the same production line as the Volvo XC40 and Polestar models, so it’s no surprise that the quality of the finish is on par. By the way, the design center is also located in Gothenburg, and the other centers are located in Shanghai, California and Coventry, England.
Interestingly, the Lynk & Co 01 will only be available with one equipment package that has literally everything. The only thing that can be ordered later is the towing hook. In the Euro NCAP safety test, it won the maximum five stars, which is not surprising, given that it has all safety systems, including semi-autonomous driving with lane keeping, as well as active assistance when rearranging and parking.
Among the equipment, we highlight the panoramic roof with opening and the most advanced connection systems, which allow you to remotely activate the “air conditioner” via a mobile phone so that a cooled or heated car awaits you, but also to check whether all the windows are closed. This system also allows sharing of the digital key, which means that someone you have approved can unlock and drive your car. The choice is made easier for customers by the fact that only two colors are available.
The importer of the Lynk & Co brand for Serbia is the SEEAG company, which also imports Kia, Volvo and Geely models. It is present on the markets of 11 countries in Southeast Europe. A promotional discount of 3,000 euros was also approved for the start of sales, so the final price is 46,990 euros. The warranty lasts four years or 120,000 kilometers, with the regular service interval being every two years or 30,000, whichever comes first.
