Lyrical and soulful. Singer Aija Andrejeva invites you to the big concert Tagadne

“It just so happened that the album was released when it’s been 20 years since I’ve been on stage, and it’s been so different – rocky, lyrical, poignant,” says Aija Andreyeva thoughtfully, and when asked whether 20 years on stage is a lot or little – answers: “It’s not a joke! I’d probably say it’s a lot if I look at my life. But it’s necessary to celebrate, and grandiosely – with the symphony orchestra in Liepāja, because it was there that several important milestones in my career took place.” Of all the years, which have been so different in terms of music styles, collectives and stages, Aija does not call any one the biggest borderline. “It would be like looking for an answer to the question, which is the most favorite song. Each stage of the road has led forward and brought us to today. Each one is important! Some have been more instructive, not so simple, even painful, others – full of happy events.” Aija cannot complain about the interest and favor of the public. “I’ve felt like a doll.” For my part, I would like to add that we are three generations who listen to Aija’s songs. Meita is preparing for a trip to Liepāja, where the Aija big concert will be held at the Olympic Center on October 19. The granddaughter hums along with the songs. Saturday’s big concert, like Aija’s new album, has a name The present. “I call it a holiday album. How to decipher the title? We don’t have more than what is now. The album is about being here and now, being present. It’s just what’s really happening in this moment, ” says the singer.

The concert will be much more than the new album. Aija says that it was difficult to choose from the songs sung in 20 years. “While creating the program, I realized that a lot has been done. And there are many songs that are perhaps not so popular. Many songs had to be left behind. This will be a hit concert,” she clarifies. “Being on stage with an orchestra is a big responsibility. The orchestra creates an ambitious, multi-dimensional sound. The music is felt. When the orchestra plays, I feel like I’m in a movie and I’m very happy about this collaboration.”

Several guest artists will also take part in the grand concert. “There have been so many collaborations, there are many colleagues who have been important in my journey. I couldn’t even invite everyone, because then the concert has to last at least 24 hours,” laughs Aija. We agree that the next decade’s celebration could already be a multi-day festival.
