A ceasefire must be established in Lebanon immediately, and Hezbollah must immediately stop attacks on Israel, French President Emmanuel Macron said today during a telephone conversation with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Lebanon, Nabih Berri.

Macron also “expressed great concern over the intensification of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and their dramatic consequences for the civilian population,” BFM TV reported.

During the conversation with Berri, Macron called on the Lebanese to “come together to achieve the unity and stability of the country”, urging all parties to “face the new challenge together” by supporting “an inclusive political agenda that would be based on the election of the president as a guarantor of national unity”. .

France will continue its efforts to mobilize the international community within the framework of the International Conference in Support of the People and Sovereignty of Lebanon, which will be organized in Paris on October 24, the French President pointed out.

Macron confirmed France’s commitment to the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and reiterated his “indignation at the unjustified attack on peacekeeping forces”.

UNIFL announced earlier today that in the past 48 hours, five peacekeepers were injured in Lebanon and accused Israeli troops of “repeatedly” and “deliberately” targeting their positions.

As announced by the Lebanese Ministry of Health, nine people were killed today in new Israeli attacks, while the Lebanese Islamist movement fired, according to the Israeli army, about 320 rockets at Israel during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, from Friday evening until sunset in Saturday.
