It was announced on the 8th that the ranches of ‘Sangha Ranch’, an organic and eco-friendly brand of Maeil Dairy Products (CEO Seonhee Kim), have acquired low-carbon certification for the first time in Korea.
Last October, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs unveiled the 24th dairy farm that passed Korea’s first low-carbon certification.
Among these, 12 ranches producing organic milk from the Sangha Ranch were included. The ‘Low Carbon Livestock Product Certification System’ is a system that certifies when greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by more than 10% compared to the average emissions by livestock species by applying low-carbon livestock farming technology in the production process to induce voluntary greenhouse gas reduction.
The dairy farms at Sangha Ranch that received certification this time achieved a greenhouse gas emissions reduction of more than 18% compared to the average emissions of general dairy farms through milk production management, livestock waste recycling, and self-production of forage (pasture and feed crops), especially in Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do. Sangha Green Ranch showed the best performance, recording a 28% reduction in emissions compared to the average.
Sangha Ranch has been consistently striving to protect the value of nature by carrying out various environmental protection activities. In order to reduce the use of plastic, we have made lightweight PET containers, and have also focused on improving eco-friendly packaging, such as launching the ‘Sangha Ranch Organic Milk 750ml rPET bottle’ mixed with 10% recycled PET, and sterilized milk with a paper straw. In addition, we are continuously promoting activities for a sustainable environment, such as operating a program to support recycling of used milk cartons by consumers.
To commemorate Korea’s first low-carbon certification, Sangha Ranch will hold an event through its official Instagram account until November 13th. If a consumer certifies in a comment their eco-friendly activities using Sangha Ranch products, a sterilized product of ‘Sangha Ranch Organic Milk Lactose Free’ will be awarded to the winner through a drawing, creating a meaningful opportunity to practice eco-friendly practices together with consumers. did it
An official from Maeil Dairy said, “We hope that Sangha Farm will become a more trusted brand by consumers through this first low-carbon certification in Korea.” He added, “Not only the 12th farm that received certification this time, but also other organic products from Sangha Farm that are undergoing a strict certification review. “We will continue to communicate with ranchers so that ranches can obtain low-carbon certification, and we will continue to work harder to maintain the premium quality and eco-friendly values of Sangha Ranch.”
