A letter contaminated by the plague received in a school in Saône et Loire

MISCELLANEOUS FACT – More fear than harm. This Wednesday, the prefecture of Saône-et Loire made a worrying announcement indicating that traces of plague were found in a letter addressed to a training establishment in Chalon-sur-Saône.

“Several envelopes from abroad were received by the Colint School training center (…) A white powder was present in one of these envelopes. She was analyzed and tested positive for the plague”explained the prefecture on its website.

“No symptoms have been reported to date” by people who were exposed to the mail, she also specified. Fortunately, nothing serious in the end, since it was a false positive.

“The additional analysis, carried out by the laboratory of the Croix-Rousse hospital in Lyon, made it possible to remove the doubt and confirm a negative result for the plague”indicate the authorities.

Six people were, however, placed under medical surveillance at the university hospital center (CHU) of Chalon-sur-Saône in a nuclear radiological biological and chemical structure (NRBC). According to France Bleu Bourgogne, these were six employees of the training center who were thus taken care of, but did not present any symptoms. These people were able to leave quarantine this Thursday morning.

Located in the La Sucrerie district, the Colint School training center is a private school which teaches digital professions and which has around thirty students.
