Making some changes through iOS 18.3 Beta 3 to Notification Summaries

It’s been one hit after another for Apple this year when it comes to software updates, but we’re all excited for the upcoming third beta version of the iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3 and macOS Sequoia 15.3. With iOS 18.3 Beta 3, Apple brings a few changes to Apple Intelligence, including turning off notification summaries for apps “News and Entertainment”. This appears to be a temporary measure as Apple tries to fix its notoriously bad summaries. Reported notification summaries are expected to be restored with future iOS platform updates.

Simply through the lock screen alone, users are given the direct option to disable the notification summaries per application. Apple is also changing the notification summaries, which now appear in italics, so that they are clearly distinguishable from regular notifications.

Along with changes to notification summaries, Apple brings bug fixes and some small tweaks to the “Camera Control” button, “Messages” and “Edit PDF”. iPhone 16 models with the dedicated camera button now feature a renamed “Focus and Exposure Lock” toggle, replacing the AR/AF lock toggle. Messages get a new Genmoji option from the “+” button.

When is Apple expected to release the final version of iOS 18.3? Everything will probably be ready later in the month.
