The first attack took place near a tobacco shop which was closed at the time but which had an active vending machine. In fact, the first to be attacked was an 18 year old who was buying cigarettes on the spot and was surprised from behind and stabbed. The injured young man was immediately reached and rescued by some friends who helped him escape, chased by the attacker armed with a knife.
The request for help was immediately sent to 112 and a police patrol arrived on site. In the meantime, the 20-year-old had moved to a neighboring area and with the same kitchen knife used to attack the 18-year-old he struck and injured three other people who crossed paths by chance: an elderly couple and a girl.

The young man did not calm down even when he was confronted by the police who intercepted him. The soldiers ordered him several times to throw away the knife and one of them even fired a warning shot in the air to convince him but to no avail. The boy he continued to approach the police brandishing the knife until the soldier’s fatal shot. For the 20-year-old, the subsequent medical aid from 118 who rushed to the scene was useless.
Two of the attacked people were then rescued and transported to the ‘Bufalini’ hospital in Cesena, another to the ‘Infermi’ hospital in Rimini, the most serious is the 18-year-old but fortunately no one’s life is in danger.
