Man subjected to aggravated assault has died

A 50-year-old man who was subjected to a violent assault at Lindholm Station on Sunday has died.

This is stated by the North Jutland Police.

The attack took place around 5 pm at the train station, which is located north of Aalborg. On the same evening as the assault took place, a 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with serious violence against the man.

In a constitutional hearing the following day, he pleaded partially guilty to the charge, which states, among other things, that he should have pushed the 50-year-old, who fell to the ground.

He then punched the victim with a clenched hand, stomped and jumped on him, causing great injury to the victim.

As a result of the assault, the 50-year-old suffered, among other things, a fractured jaw and skull, and he was placed in an artificial coma.

As the constitutional hearing was held behind closed doors, it is not clear what the man acknowledges and what he denies.

On Monday, it was reported that the victim’s condition was stable, but he has since passed away. His next of kin have been notified of the death.

It was early Friday morning that the police were informed of the death.

According to Warden Ole Buus from North Jutland Police, lawyers in the circle must assess whether the charge against the 41-year-old should be changed to capital violence or murder.

The police district issued a press release on Friday afternoon about the death.

Here it appears that further investigations in connection with the death and its cause as well as the police’s further investigative steps must clarify what significance the death has for the case.

The slain man and the 41-year-old knew each other, says the warden, who does not elaborate on the two’s relationship. He cannot yet say anything about the motive for the attack.

At the hearing on Monday, the 41-year-old was remanded in custody for three and a half weeks – until Friday 10 August.
