Manchester City’s superstar leaves Guardiola’s side

One of the big mercato moves this summer is linked to the squad that holds the record for winning four Premier League titles in a row. It’s about Manchester, who are very close to parting ways with an iconic player who has been at the club for nearly a decade. We are talking here about the play-maker of the citizens, the Belgian international (or former Belgian international, as he declared after Euro 2024 that he is seriously thinking about the time of retirement), Kevin de Bruyne.

He agreed with the management of the Al Ittihad club in Saudi Arabia, where the Frenchman Laurent Blanc has now come as coach and where Kante and Benzema play. As De Bruyne still has a contract with City until 2025 it is now up to the Arabs to negotiate with the club as well, but it is said that Guardiola will not trouble him, appreciating how much the Belgian has done for City over the years.
“I have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen,” he told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws: “My oldest boy is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play for City. Once the time comes, we’ll have to handle it in a certain way.”
De Bruyne, 33, also admitted that “at my age you have to be open to everything. We’re talking incredible amounts of money in what could be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about it.
If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. An amount I may not reach after 15 years of football in Europe. You have to think about what this could mean for your future. I also discussed this with my wife, she is open to a new adventure”.
