The political groups of the European Parliament failed to reach an agreement regarding the approval of the six top commissioners of the European executive, including Roxana Mînzatu, who were heard on Tuesday, according to stiripesurse.ro.
The deputies approved 19 of the 26 commissioners proposed by von der Leyen.
They refused to take a decision regarding Olivér Várhelyi, the commissioner proposed by Hungary, and the six executive vice-presidents (Kaja Kallas, Raffaele Fitto, Roxana Mînzatu, Stéphane Séjourné, Teresa Ribera and Henna Virkkunen).
Romania’s candidate for the position of vice-president for the “People, competences and training” portfolio, Roxana Mînzatu, said on Tuesday that her just-ended hearing in the European Parliament was intense, the most complex exam of her life.
He also put the problem of the lack of approval for the expansion of the building bought in Braşov on “the chaos in the archives and in the procedures of certain institutions in Romania”.
“It was an intense hearing, the most complex exam of my life – three hours, about 50 questions. But at the end I received hugs, applause, but I suspect that we have to wait for the vote to realize how it was”, Mînzatu told the Romanian press after the hearing from the assembled commissions for employment and social affairs (EMPL) and for culture and education (CULT) of the EP, in Brussels.
She confessed that she does not know when to expect the news regarding its validation: “There are institutional arrangements made here, I don’t know if we will have the result today.”
Roxana Mînzatu declared herself willing to make available to the press the document from the Ministry of Culture that she said in the hearing that she owns and which certifies that the building she bought in Brasov in 2009 is not a historical monument. The document mentions that the building “is not a historical monument, but that I needed a permit because I am in the historical center of Braşov”.
Asked if this discussion regarding the lack of an approval for the extension of her house in Brasov during the hearing represents a vulnerability, she answered: “unfortunately”.
