Five years after his arrival at the head of the continuous news channel, the former presenter Marc-Olivier Fogiel announced his departure from BFMTV. Fabien Namias, the current boss of LCI, has been appointed to succeed him.
At the beginning of July, the Altice Media group (parent company of RMC and BFMTV) made its acquisition by the shipping company CMA CGM official. While this operation immediately led to the departure of the group’s former boss Arthur Dreyfuss, replaced by Nicolas de Tavernost, it also led to the departure of other executives from the company. Marc-Olivier Fogiel, CEO of BFMTV, and Hervé Béroud, Deputy CEO of Information, announced to their colleagues on Monday, July 22, their departure from the channel. “With great emotion but with a sense of duty accomplished (Editor’s note: BFMTV went from 2.6% audience share in 2019 to 3% in 2024)I have decided, at the end of a five-year term, to leave BFMTV. This personal choice only came to me after a long period of reflection that began several months ago.”explains the former talk show host You can’t please everyone in an email consulted by AFP and The world.
Fabien Namias and Jean-Philippe Baille to replace them
Even if these departures will only be effective after the start of the school year to ensure “a smooth transition”the names of their replacements have already been revealed. For Marc-Olivier Fogiel’s position, the boss of a competing channel has been designated. “Fabien Namias, current deputy general manager of LCI, informed us today of his wish to leave LCI and resigned from his position to join the Altice Media group and BFM TV”the TF1 group said in a press release. An interim management team has been set up by the audiovisual group, with Thierry Thuillier, deputy general manager of the TF1 group in charge of news, Bastien Morassi, current editorial director and Hélène Lecomte, deputy editorial director of LCI.
For his part, Hervé Béroud will be replaced by Jean-Philippe Baille, director of information at Radio France and director of franceinfo. “At the request of Sibyle Veil, he will assume his duties at the head of franceinfo and will complete his missions as information director until October 1st.”however, Radio France specifies. “The dates of Jean-Philippe Baille and Fabien Namias’ taking up of office will be communicated at a later date.”underlines, for its part, the RMC/BFM group in a press release.
