Iskelmä singer Marjorie eli Marjo-Riitta Nieminen has died on October 13, 2024. He was 58 years old when he died.

– My mother’s dear friends, colleagues and relatives, I announce with deep sadness that my dear mother Marjo-Riitta has fallen asleep today, October 13. My mother’s warmth, love, talent and kindness left an indelible mark on all of us, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever. May his light be our strength and comfort in the midst of this sorrow. Let’s hold on to the beautiful memories he created for us together. Joy, light and love, as mother always used to say, Marjorie’s daughter Katariina writes a sad message.

Marjorie got an electric harmonica already at the age of five, and at the age of six she started playing the piano. Marjorie founded her first band Albatross in 1986, when she also started gigging regularly. At the same time, he studied music education at the University of Jyväskylä and classical singing at the Conservatory of Central Finland.

In 1988, Marjorie participated in Finland’s Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Tie”. He also appeared in the Kivikasvot show. Marjorie also participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1989 with the song “Kahten juhta”, in 1990 with the song “Tuuli” and in 1993 as an invited artist with the songs “Legenda” and “Time goes on”.

Marjorie recorded her first own album Huone 213 in 1992. Two years later she released the album Auring häät.

The third solo album was in 1998, Täuttä äääää.
