focus on the death of SPOILER in episode 3

Agatha All Along didn’t pull any punches. The 11th series of the MCU, whose events take place after those of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessfocused on the character of Agatha Harkness. Remember. Agatha loses to Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch, and finds herself powerless in the middle of Westview. However, Wanda having been defeated on Mount Wundagore, her spell begins to dissipate. Agatha is finally freed three years later, by a teenager in search of the Witches’ Road. The duo, newly formed, sets out to find other witches to put together a Sabbath.

And in its episode 3, Agatha All Along decides to kill one of its main characters: Mrs. Hart. Played by Debra Jo Rupp, Sharon Davis, aka Mrs. Hart, lost her life on the Witches’ Trail after having two glasses of poisoned wine. No antidote in sight for Davis, who therefore loses his life in front of his helpless allies. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jac Schaeffler, creator of the series and director and author of several episodes, returned to this premature death.

It was so important from the beginning, when we realized that we were going to do the witch route, that we were going to do this coven, the hilarious idea that we were going to bring a normal person with us. Debra Joe Rupp is a comedic genius. She Can’t Not Be Funny, But We’re Doing Horror-Comedy on the Show“, explained Schaeffer. “This series has bite and, in the final episodes, it takes a really dramatic turn. It was important to point this out, it was important to make it clear that we’re not joking, that people die in this series“.

Agatha All Along

We’re theatrical, campy, broad, all the spectacle, all the fun, all the winks, all the meta, but underneath it all there’s real grit to the story“, continue Schaeffer. “There is real meaning to all of this. I also think this is part of Agatha’s personality; she can be very flamboyant, but she will cut you. I felt dishonest for not really going in that direction.“. With its third episode, Agatha All Along sets the tone. Faced with the watered-down stories offered by Marvel in recent years, many spectators feared that the tone ofAgatha All Along is not mature enough, dark enough. We still talk about witch stories. Despite everything, Marvel could have preferred a lighter, more Disneyland series.

Agatha All Along

Perfect as Halloween approaches, Agatha All Along reassures. After a Deadpool & Wolverine gory and bloody, Marvel and Disney therefore seem ready to speak to their older audiences. And that’s a good thing. MCU fans have aged 16 years since Iron Man in 2008, it is therefore necessary to adapt to this development. It remains to be seen whether Agatha All Along will stay the course thereafter. But this episode 3 is a great discovery, with a series that gains strength over the course of its episodes. While the MCU is losing steam, Agatha All Along succeeds in his bet.
