Marvel teases the arrival of an iconic character

Marvel Studios has just confirmed that season 3 of What If… ? should feature two characters: one would be completely new, and the other would be an emblematic character from Marvel Comics.

What If… ? : soon season 3?

In 2021, Marvel Studios decides to develop a concept famous among comic book readers. With What If… ?, the idea is simple: take well-known stories from the Marvel Universe and therefore the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to change their ins and outs. For example, What If… ? explores a universe in which T’Challa becomes Star Lord in place of Peter Quill. Another episode imagines a Marvel universe invaded by zombies. In short, this concept, already explored in the comics, made fans happy.

Developed by A.C. Bradleythe show met with some popular success. Two seasons are already available on Disney+, and a third is on the way. In addition to this season 3 of What If… ?, Marvel Studios is also working on a spin-off of the show titled Marvel Zombies.

A highly anticipated character?

Recently, the producer Matt Chaunceywho works at Marvel Animationconfirmed that season 3 of What If… ? would offer major surprises. During a panel appearance LightBox Expok, the producer dropped two rather interesting pieces of information. The first is that this season 3 will feature a character specially created for the series, like White in season 2; and the second is that this season 3 will feature a iconic Marvel Studios character.

Unfortunately, no name was mentioned, but he also implied that the actor who would voice this new character is a big name in the Hollywood world. Regarding the well-known character from the Marvel universe, rumors suggest that Matt Chauncey is referring to Tornado. Which would allow Marvel Studios to further introduce X-Men in the MCU. According to these same rumors, season 3 of What If… ? would actually put Tornado in the skin of Thor.

Matt Chauncey also suggested that an episode of this season 3 would be a musical comedy in homage to Hollywood cinema of the 1930s :

This is a huge achievement for animation. Particularly when it comes to the challenges of coordinating dance and movement.

We remain skeptical about this latest information. Some animated films like All on stage have already taken on such a challenge, and with flying colors. And then, the failure of Joker: Folie à deux should, however, alert them. And you, do you think that an episode in the form of a musical is a good idea?
