Under the auspices of the Stellantis automobile group, which includes as many as 14 automobile companies, is the well-known Italian company Maserati, which has not been blooming well lately, because the sale of cars from Modena in the first half of the year is weaker by more than 50 percent compared to the same period last year. which in the ruthless world of finance is tantamount to disaster.
With the recent statement by the first man of Stellantis, Carlos Tavares, that the group does not rule out the possibility of completely shutting down car companies that are not profitable, Maserati is among the first candidates that Stellantis could soon consign to history or (in a less radical approach) offer for sale to the best bidder. which was officially confirmed by Stellantis’ head of finance Natalie Knight.
Maserati was founded in 1914 by the Italian industrialist Adolfo Orsi, and the company in its turbulent history was often owned by other car companies and faced financial problems. In the various possible scenarios in which cars characterized by the characteristic trident should not disappear from the automotive scene, the saving hand from Ferrari, under whose wing Maserati was from 1999 to 2005, is most often mentioned.
Maserati currently offers eight models (Grecale, Levante, Ghibli, Quattroporte, GranTurismo, GranCabrio, MC20 and MC20 Cielo), and the smaller SUV Grecale and GranCabrio are also available in a combination powered only by electric motors.
