According to the legal community on the 24th, the prosecution requested 10 years in prison for Mr. Kim (32), who is charged with escape and death under the Aggravated Punishment Act for Specific Crimes, held at the Gwangju District Court on the 22nd. The prosecution stated the reason for the sentence, saying, “As a result of Mr. Kim’s crime, a victim in his 20s lost his life at a young age. However, Mr. Kim fled immediately after the accident without providing relief and continued to run away for a considerable period of time.” The prosecution also requested a sentence of one year and six months in prison for Mr. Oh (33), an accomplice who is accused of helping the escapee.

Previously, Mr. Kim is accused of crashing into a motorcycle ahead of him while driving a Maserati vehicle while drinking more than two bottles of soju in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, at around 3:11 a.m. on September 24. In this accident, a woman in her 20s, a passenger on the motorcycle, died, and the male driver was seriously injured. Mr. Kim fled the scene immediately after the accident without providing relief. Knowing that Mr. Kim was running away after causing a fatal accident, Mr. Oh helped him escape by providing a cannon phone through Telegram.

At the time of the incident, the victims were taken to the hospital following a citizen report, but the female passenger eventually died. A motorcyclist who worked as a delivery driver suffered an accident on his way home from work with his girlfriend. An eyewitness statement added to the sadness of the fact that “immediately after the accident, the motorcyclist raised his head for 2-3 minutes and sobbed, asking, ‘Is my girlfriend dead?'”

Meanwhile, the police sent two additional accomplices who helped Mr. Kim escape without detention. In addition, we are expanding the investigation by discovering Mr. Kim’s involvement in illegal cyber gambling. In addition, the accident vehicle was confirmed to be a cannon car, and about 10 cannon cars registered in the name of a related corporation were also confirmed, and four people, including the representative of the corporation, were booked on charges of violating the Automobile Management Act.

In his final statement, Mr. Kim said, “I offer my deepest apology to the victims and their bereaved families who suffered from the accident I committed,” but the victim submitted a petition to the court for severe punishment. Another victim also appeared in court and shed tears while receiving hospital treatment.
