The 25-year-old forward signed a contract with Dynamo Moscow. He responded in his own way to critical voices that he was going to the country that started the war in neighboring Ukraine.

“I don’t care what people say,” Comtois is quoted as saying by championat.ru.

The skillful striker was to become an NHL star. In the 2017 draft, the Anaheim Ducks selected him from the 50th spot, but he already confirmed great offensive qualities from the opening months.

In the 2020/21 year, he became the club’s most productive player. Paradoxically, it did him more harm than good.

Subsequently, he moved to the Carolina Hurricanes, where he fell from the first formation to the farm.

Russian media presented Comtois as one of the biggest stars of the upcoming KHL season. They didn’t forget that he was the former captain of the junior Canadian team. He won a gold medal with Canada at the under-20 and senior World Championships.

“My wife and I decided so. We’re going to a great club and a high-level competition. I’m young, I want to learn and develop.

And besides, life in Moscow is great. We decided quite quickly,” added Comtois.
