Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary, elegant like the special Miatas of the past

The Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary was revealed over the weekend at the 2024 Mazda Fan Fest at Fuji Speedway, Japan. This is the latest special edition of the MX-5 ND, naturally designed to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the model and designed in Artisan Red exterior color with beige interior and soft top. It is not yet official whether it will also arrive in Italy.

Red and beige

According to what Mazda specified in this brief presentation to enthusiasts, both the soft top version and the RF will be offered exclusively in Artisan Red, a triple-layer paint introduced two years ago on the occasion of the presentation of the CX-60 and also proposed again at ‘interior on the air vents, on the top of the door panels and even on the key fob.

Other changes also include the addition of the logo 35th Anniversary embroidered on the headrests, new specific mats and normal seats instead of the Recaros fitted to the 30th Anniversary in 2019.

Among the most iconic features of the model we must certainly mention the red and beige interior designed recalling some special editions of the spider from the early 2000s and the new 17-inch wheels with a specific design never seen before.

Numbered but not limited

According to what was specified by the company during the presentation, Mazda will individually number these special cars but it will not limit artificially the production:

“We don’t have a limited quantity because we want to deliver it to everyone who wants it,” said Miata Program Manager Shigeki Saito.

A special plate placed in front of the rear wheel on the right side, in fact, will indicate the car’s position in the production sequence, but not an end.
