Media: The US knows about Iranian plans to assassinate Trump

In recent weeks, the United States has gathered intelligence about an Iranian plan to assassinate former US President Donald Trump.

This is what the media CNN writes after Saturday’s assassination attempt against Trump in particular.

The White House has refused to comment on the information, but stated that there is nothing to indicate that Saturday’s attack is connected abroad.

Iran itself calls the accusations “unsubstantiated and malicious”.

For years, the United States has been concerned that Iran would retaliate against Trump after he, as president, ordered the killing of Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani in 2020.

– As we have said many times before, for several years we have been keeping an eye on Iranian threats against former employees of the Trump administration, says Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the White House’s National Security Council.

Trump’s election campaign has been briefed on the intelligence.

The 20-year-old American Thomas Matthew Crooks has been named as the man behind Saturday’s assassination attempt against Trump.

He was shot and killed by the Secret Service, immediately after Trump was hit by gunfire during his speech at a rally in the state of Pennsylvania.

Based on the intelligence, the Secret Service, on orders from the National Security Council, has increased security for Trump.

It is unclear whether it happened before Saturday’s attack.

The Secret Service has come under fire for Thomas Matthew Crooks being able to climb onto a roof near Trump’s rally and shoot at the former president.

One person was killed, while two others were seriously injured.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has ordered an independent investigation into how this could be done.

Congress has also asked the Secret Service to explain the circumstances.
