MediaTek and Google Will Develop New Chipset for Google Home

At the CES 2025 event, Google and MediaTek announced a partnership to create a new chipset. they announced. It is stated that this chipset, called Filogic MT7903, is for the Google Home ecosystem.

It is stated that the chipset will facilitate widespread adoption of Thread and enable developers to provide more robust and responsive smart home experiences for users. Thread Matter is the foundation of the smart home standard and has only been around for a little over 10 years. Thread is an IPv6-based protocol designed for low-power, battery-powered devices, making it perfect for the smart home scene.

Thread allows your devices to talk to each other seamlessly and supports more than 250 devices on a network with a network architecture. Built on Thread, Matter enables smart home appliances from different brands to work together. This makes it easier for you to set up and manage your devices, while your home technology can operate effortlessly.

MediaTek says this new chipset will integrate tri-band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6 and IEEE 802.15.4/Thread radios. The company also added that by integrating the Matter standard into the chipset, different devices from different manufacturers can communicate with each other. Additionally, there is a lower power feature called Thread border router offload, which allows the main chip to go into sleep mode while maintaining connectivity with other devices.

Let us also remind you that MediaTekWin collaborated with NVIDIA to co-design a processor that it exhibited at CES 2025 this year.
