OR Mediatek officially announced the Dimensity 9400a flagship chipset with a powerful CPU and the best ever graphics unit.
The chipset comes with on-device artificial intelligence and is packed with cutting-edge technology, including new ISPs, NPUs and improved power efficiency.
The SoC is manufactured by TSMC on the 3 nm (N3E) process, further improving performance and efficiency.
The CPU architecture is 1+3+4. The high-performance core is the Cortex-X925 and runs at 3.63 GHz, while there are also 3 Cortex-X4 modules with a maximum frequency of 3.3 GHz. For better efficiency, there are also four Cortex-A720 units at 2.4 GHz.
According to Mediatek, the new Dimensity 9400 offers a 15% increase in IPC (Instructions per Cycle), which, alongside the increased clock speed, gives you a 35% gain in single-core performance and a 28% improvement for multi-cores.
The GPU is the Immortalis-G925, which was announced earlier this year. It runs at a frequency of 1612 MHz, promising 41% performance improvement, 40% faster ray tracing performance and 44% energy savings.
The artificial intelligence is handled by the NPU 890, which should consume 35% less power than its predecessor. In terms of AI features, the chip enables corrective image filling for sharp and clear photos, 100x zoom with “excellent details” and better power efficiency in 4K @ 60 fps video capture.
The Imagiq 1090 ISP is supposed to enable HDR video capture across the entire zoom range, which means switching zoom levels and lenses without affecting video quality.
The Dimensity 9400 is the first chipset on the market to implement 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X RAM. It also has a 100% increase in L2 cache and a 50% increase in L3 cache.
Mediatek is already shipping Dimensity 9400 chips to OEMs. We expect to see the chipset in the Oppo Find X8 in November and the vivo X200 series this month.
