MediaTek reveals chip that is probably in Samsung Galaxy S25

MediaTek has officially presented its new high-end chip: the Dimensity 9400. The processor performs tens of percent better than its predecessor and may end up in the Samsung Galaxy S25.

MediaTek was once known for its slow chips in cheap smartphones, but those times are over. The MediaTek Dimensity 9300, which is included in the Xiaomi 14T Pro, is about as fast as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 from the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. And his successor goes even further.

The Dimensity 9400, which MediaTek has now presented, is a real one powerhouse. It performs 28 to 35 percent better than its predecessor. The GPU, which is important if you game a lot on your smartphone, is even 40 percent faster. At the same time, the chip is 40 percent more energy efficient.

In addition, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is well prepared for AI. It can process text prompts 80 percent faster than the Dimensity 9300. In addition, the processor is said to be very suitable for generating videos using artificial intelligence.

Later this month, competitor Qualcomm will also present a new chip: it is currently known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but may be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It will be interesting to see whether Qualcomm can continue in MediaTek’s footsteps.

Will we see the Dimensity 9400 in the Samsung Galaxy S25?

We recently read the rumor that the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus have a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 on board. It would be the first time that Samsung has opted for a MediaTek processor for its S series. That is partly a financial choice. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be considerably more expensive than the Gen 3.

The first smartphones with a Dimensity 9400 will be launched this month: all devices from the Oppo Find X8 series run on this chip.
