The Korean Breastfeeding Network (Chairperson Kim Young-joo) will hold the ‘2024 World Breastfeeding Week Commemoration Ceremony’ on the 2nd of next month at 2:00 PM in the 1st Seminar Room on the 2nd floor of the National Assembly Members’ Hall to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week in the first week of August.

Sponsored by the World Association for Breastfeeding Associations (WABA) and the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), this commemorative ceremony, held under the theme of “In the era of low birth rates, are there any measures to promote breastfeeding?” will include the appointment ceremony of the 12th Korean Breastfeeding Network Goodwill Ambassadors (Ambassadors Hee-jin Kim and Seon-yeong Jo) and a presentation on the connection between breastfeeding and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In Part 2, ▲Policy Support Area – Problems and Improvement Measures in Breastfeeding Support Policy (Professor Taehee Kim, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital) ▲Awareness Improvement Area – Current Status and Challenges of Breastfeeding Awareness (Professor Eunju Oh, Department of Nursing, Jinju Health College) ▲Breastfeeding Practice Area – Difficulties in Breastfeeding and Solutions (Jiyeon Park and Seongji Han, Breastfeeding Practice Case Study Participants) will be presented and discussed.

Kim Young-joo, president of the Korean Breastfeeding Network (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ewha Mokdong Hospital), said, “Breastfeeding not only has a positive effect on mothers and babies, but also greatly contributes to reducing carbon emissions and sustainable development.” She added, “This commemorative ceremony will be an opportunity to discuss ways to improve awareness of breastfeeding and what kind of policy support should be provided.”

<p>Inha University Hospital recently received the top grade for the third consecutive time in the intensive care unit adequacy evaluation announced by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. On the 25th, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service released the results of the ‘2023 (4th) Intensive Care Unit Adequacy Evaluation’ through the review service website and mobile app.</p>
<p>The intensive care unit is a place where critically ill patients are continuously observed and specialized treatment is provided, so it is very important to have appropriate personnel and equipment as well as a system to prepare for unpredictable critical situations.</p>
<p>This evaluation was conducted on patients aged 18 years or older admitted to intensive care units from January to March 2023 at 303 institutions (45 upper-level general hospitals and 258 general hospitals) surveyed by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service.</p>
<p>The average overall score of all institutions as a result of the evaluation was 68.5 points, of which 68 institutions were 1st class. The 1st class standard is a comprehensive score of 90 points or higher, and the average overall score of a general hospital is 95.3 points.</p>
<p>Inha University Hospital received full marks in all publicly disclosed evaluation items, including the number of intensive care unit beds per full-time specialist, the number of intensive care unit beds per nurse, the availability of specialized intensive care unit equipment and facilities, and the presence of intensive care unit infection control activities.</p>

Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, Receives Grade 1 in ‘Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation’ for 10 Consecutive Times

Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital received the highest grade, Grade 1, in the ‘10th Acute Stroke Adequacy Evaluation’ conducted by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service.

With this first-class evaluation, Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital has achieved the first-class rating for the 10th consecutive time in the acute stroke adequacy evaluation conducted since 2006. With a composite score of 99.99, which is higher than the overall average score (88.13 points), Dongsan Hospital has once again proven the excellence of acute stroke treatment.

This evaluation was conducted over a period of six months from October 2022 to March 2023, targeting 249 medical institutions above the level of general hospitals and patients with acute stroke admitted to emergency rooms within 7 days of symptom onset.

Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital received full marks in most areas, including the structural indicators of professional staff composition and stroke unit operation, as well as ▲intravenous thrombolytic administration rate, ▲early rehabilitation evaluation rate, ▲early rehabilitation implementation rate, ▲functional outcome scale implementation rate upon discharge, and ▲incidence rate of pneumonia (hemorrhagic) during hospitalization.

Kyung Hee University Hospital Receives 1st Grade in ‘Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation’ for 10 Consecutive Times

Kyung Hee University Hospital received a perfect score of 1st grade in all indicators in the ’10th Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation’ announced by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service on July 30. This is the honor of receiving the highest grade for 10 consecutive times since the first evaluation. In particular, Kyung Hee University Hospital was selected as the best medical institution in the top 20% based on the evaluation results for 4 consecutive times and received additional compensation.

This stroke adequacy evaluation was conducted for six months from October 2022 to March 2023 at 249 general hospitals or higher, targeting acute patients admitted to the emergency room within 7 days of onset of stroke symptoms. The main evaluation contents are ▲ composition of the stroke unit (personnel and facilities) ▲ rate of intravenous thrombolytic (t-PA) administration (within 60 minutes) ▲ early rehabilitation evaluation and implementation rate ▲ functional evaluation at the time of discharge ▲ incidence of pneumonia during hospitalization ▲ mortality rate (hemorrhagic and ischemic) within 30 days of hospitalization, and Kyung Hee University Hospital received a perfect score of 100 points in all indicators.
