Ilsan Hospital Receives Grade 1 in Anesthesia Appropriateness Evaluation for 3 Consecutive Times
Ilsan Hospital of National Health Insurance Service recently received a first-class rating in the ‘3rd Anesthesia Appropriateness Evaluation’ announced by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service (HIRA).
The anesthesia adequacy assessment is being conducted to improve the quality of medical care in the anesthesia field and to establish a foundation for anesthesia patient safety management, and Ilsan Hospital has received the top grade three times in a row, starting with the first evaluation and continuing through the third evaluation.
As a result of the evaluation, Ilsan Hospital received a high score of 97 points, which is far higher than the overall average of 87.4 points. In particular, it received a perfect score of 100 points in four categories, including whether or not it operates a recovery room and the rate of patient evaluations before anesthesia, and was recognized for its excellent quality management of medical care.
Yuseongseon Hospital, Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation Receives Grade 1
Seon Hospital Foundation’s Seon Hospital recently received a first-class rating in the ’10th Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation’ conducted by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service.
Yuseongseon Hospital received an excellent score of 100 points, which is higher than the overall average of 88.13 points and the average of 99.64 points for general hospitals. Since 2016, it has maintained a grade 1 in the acute stroke adequacy evaluation, becoming the hospital that received a grade 1 for four consecutive years.
In particular, among the major indicators, ▲intravenous thrombolytic agent (t-PA) administration rate (within 60 minutes) ▲early rehabilitation evaluation rate ▲early rehabilitation implementation rate ▲functional outcome scale implementation rate (at the time of discharge) received 100 points.
Inha University Hospital, 10 consecutive acute stroke adequacy evaluations ‘1st grade’
Inha University Hospital recently received a Grade 1 in the ‘2022 (10th) Acute Stroke Appropriateness Evaluation’ announced by the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service. Accordingly, it has maintained Grade 1 without fail from the first evaluation announced in 2007 to the recent 10th evaluation.
This evaluation was conducted on 249 general hospitals (44 tertiary general hospitals and 205 general hospitals) or higher that treated acute stroke patients admitted to the emergency room within 7 days of symptom onset from October 2022 to March 2023.
Inha University Hospital received a grade of 1st place based on a score of 95 points or higher out of 100. It was also selected as the best institution in the 10th evaluation as it was in the top 20% in terms of overall score.
SCL, Participation in the ‘2nd Korean Pathology Society Training’
The Seoul Clinical Laboratory (SCL), a non-profit organization, announced on the 31st that it participated in the ‘2nd Continuing Education of the Korean Society of Pathologists – Dermatopathology Research Association’ held on the 27th and explored the latest trends and development directions in dermatopathology.
This training session was themed ‘A practical approach in dermatopathology for general pathologists’ and shared essential information on the overall field of dermatopathology, including basic concepts of major skin diseases seen in routine diagnosis and practical microscopic approaches to skin biopsies.
Dr. Lee Jeong-Hoon (Pathology) of SCL gave a lecture on the topic of ‘A practical approach to the diagnosis of benign melanocytic tumors.’ He explained a practical method for differentiating benign tumors from malignant ones among melanocytic tumors, commonly called ‘spots,’ using the ‘abtropfung’ theory.
Ilsong Academy, a school corporation, holds a ‘Mighty Doctor Book Review Contest’
Ilsong Academy announced on the 31st that it will hold a book review contest to commemorate the publication of the autobiography ‘Mighty Doctor’ by the late Chairman Doheon Yoon Dae-won.
This contest was created to convey the courage and sense of challenge to overcome hardships and adversities to those living in the present age through the life of Chairman Daewon Yoon, who was a doctor, manager, and educator. All royalties from the autobiography will be donated to the Hanlim Hwasang Foundation, a social welfare corporation.
The contest, which runs from August 1 to September 30, is open to anyone over the age of 7 who has read the autobiography “Mighty Doctor.” After reading the book, write a book review on a topic of your choice and submit it via Google Form. The Google Form can be accessed via the QR code on the contest poster or through the notice on the Hallym University Medical Center website.
The contest is divided into three categories: ▲Elementary School Students, ▲Middle and High School Students, and ▲University Students and the General Public. Submissions are limited to one entry per person. The total prize money is 50 million won, and 71 winners will be awarded in each category, from the Grand Prize to the Encouragement Award. The winning entries will be selected by the Hallym University Doheon Academic Institute by evaluating ▲Understanding of the Content, ▲Individuality and Originality, ▲Logical Validity, ▲Completion, ▲Topic, and ▲SNS Upload Bonus Points.
Results will be announced in November. The announcement schedule may change for accurate evaluation.
Medical Association Establishes TF to Support Career Paths for Residents
The Korean Medical Association announced on the 31st that it will establish a ‘Resident Career Support TF’ for residents who are facing various issues such as career paths. With the establishment of the TF (task force), the plan is to activate a career support program for residents that takes into account the characteristics of each department, in addition to the existing loan-linked program and various other support such as job posting bulletin boards.
The Career Support TF will be composed of four members recommended by the Korean Medical Association, four members recommended by the Korean Medical Association, and four to five members of the Resident Nest Team, led by Chairman Park Geun-tae (Chairman of the Korean Medical Association). It will be operated primarily with a focus on the composition and development of existing platforms and content development.
The ultimate goal of the Career Support TF is to connect senior doctors and residents through various educational programs such as training courses and expanded operation of job posting/job search bulletin boards, to create a link of harmony in the overall medical community, and further to provide practical assistance to residents in Sajik for their livelihoods and career paths.
Professor Seonghwan Kim of Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital participates in the creation of a large-scale medical AI ecosystem
Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital announced on the 31st that the plastic surgery team led by Professor Kim Seong-hwan was selected for the ‘2024 Ultra-Large-Scale AI Diffusion Ecosystem Creation Project – Healthcare 8th Skin Disease and Tumor Synthetic Data’ sector project hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and promoted by the National Intelligence Service (NIA).
This project is being participated in by a consortium of four institutions, including the Seoul National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, the leading organization, Hallym University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Professor Kim Seong-hwan, Department of Plastic Surgery, Hallym University Kangnam Sacred Heart Hospital), SQ Isoft Co., Ltd., and Chungnam National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation. The project cost is a total of 1.4 billion won, including 1.2 billion won in sensitive burdens for the implementing organization.
The project was established to build synthetic medical data that does not contain sensitive information such as personal information so that artificial intelligence can assist in diagnosing and assessing the severity of skin diseases such as atopy and skin cancer.
Professor Kim Seonghwan’s team plans to build a total of 27,000 synthetic data sets, including ▲12,000 synthetic data sets of five types of inflammatory skin diseases on the face (acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, and rosacea) and normal images, and ▲15,000 synthetic data sets of 15 types of skin tumors (10 benign tumors, 4 malignant tumors, and 1 precancerous tumor).
Jeonbuk National University Hospital, Korean Behavioral Analysis Society Summer Conference and Symposium Held
On the 27th, Jeonbuk National University Hospital held the 2024 Korean Behavior Analysis Society Summer Conference and Jeonbuk National University Hospital Symposium at the Moak Hall in the main building.
This summer academic conference and symposium was held with approximately 350 people in attendance, including online attendees via ZOOM, on the topic of collaborative approaches to improving behavioral development in children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.
Starting with the welcoming remarks by Baek Jong-nam, the president of the Korean Society for Behavior Analysis and professor of special education at Woosuk University, and the congratulatory remarks by Professor Park Tae-won (Director of the Behavioral Development Promotion Center and Developmental Disability Hospital at Chonbuk National University Hospital), the event explored ways to provide more scientific and effective support to people with developmental disabilities and their families by combining behavioral approaches and medical approaches for behavioral intervention for students with developmental disabilities.
