Seoul National University Hospital Mind the Rest Center

Seoul National University Hospital (Director Kim Young-tae) announced on the 10th that, in cooperation with Good Books, the ‘Mind the Rest Center’ will be in full operation after opening in 2023. Mind the Rest Center aims to develop and distribute non-drug treatment services for mental health, and focuses on expanding non-drug treatment options that will contribute to solving mental health problems. Through this, Seoul National University Hospital provides patients with customized treatment methods in addition to drug treatment, presenting a new paradigm in mental health treatment.

The opening of ‘Mind the Rest Center’ is part of the Mind the Rest Integrated Treatment Center donation project that started in 2022, and a total of 3 billion won in donations was invested during the first phase (2022-2024) of the project.

The second phase of the project (2025-2027) will also be carried out with the same amount of donations. The main goals of this project are to secure diversity in mental health services and to develop and operate evidence-based non-drug treatment programs. Through this, Seoul National University Hospital is proving that non-pharmacological treatment is an important way to effectively improve mental health without relying on drugs, and is supporting patients’ prevention and recovery at the same time.

◆ Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center holds a cultural event for patients to welcome the New Year

To welcome the new year of 2025, Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center is holding various cultural events to deliver messages of healing and hope to patients, guardians, and faculty.

The ‘Small Concert with Patients’ was made possible by the talent donation of the female ensemble ‘Belle Stelle (Director Joo Seon-young)’ and was held on January 9th in the first floor lobby of Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital. The beautiful melodies of songs such as “Hymn of Love” and “Even if Life Tricks You” and children’s songs for children filled the lobby and moved many patients.

The completion ceremony for the third training program ‘Leadership for Change (LFC)’ operated by the Korean Nurses Association KICN Center of Excellence for Nursing Leadership (KNA-ICN Center of Excellence for Nursing Leadership) was held on the 10th.

At the completion ceremony, six people, including nursing school professors and mid-career nurses who participated in the LFC workshop, were awarded ICN LFC pins along with LFC certificates.

On this day, Dr. Kristine Qureshi of the ICN Leadership Center gave a congratulatory speech, saying, “I hope that you will use the leadership skills you have learned in this program to create meaningful change in your workplace, community, and country.” She added, “Some people are concerned about the role of nursing as a profession. We hope that you will also participate in important issues related to nursing in Korea, such as nursing law, or working conditions for nurses. “The participation of all leadership is important,” he emphasized.

The LFC program, jointly hosted by the Korean Nurses Association and the International Council of Nurses (ICN), is a nursing leadership program operated directly by ICN to strategically develop the leadership capabilities of nurses.
