◆Severance Hospital, ranked first in NCSI for 14 consecutive years

Severance Hospital ranked first in the hospital medical service sector for 14 consecutive years in the National Customer Satisfaction Survey (NCSI) selected by the Korea Productivity Center on the 12th. It is the first domestic hospital to do so for 14 consecutive years.

The National Customer Satisfaction Survey (NCSI) is a customer satisfaction measurement index developed by the Korea Productivity Center together with the University of Michigan in the United States for the purpose of improving the quality competitiveness of companies, industries, and countries and improving the quality of life of citizens. ACSI, the American customer satisfaction index, has been improved to suit domestic circumstances, and is being used globally, including in Europe and Japan. It is a model that allows comparison between countries, industries, and companies, which also helps improve international competitiveness.

NCSI conducts the world’s largest single face-to-face survey by industry, based on 349 companies in 82 industries and 95,927 samples. Customer expectations, perceived quality, and perceived value are evaluated objectively and scientifically through thorough due diligence and verification.

Severance Hospital has ranked first in the hospital medical service industry for 14 years through an objective research process. Severance Hospital’s customer satisfaction process, which is faithful to the hospital’s essence of treatment and improves convenience for visitors, is evaluated to be developing further.

The hospital recently reduced inconvenience to visitors by installing easy-to-find way-finding signs. The hospital is optimized for customized treatment by being divided into a main building with otolaryngology and psychiatry departments, and specialty hospitals such as Yonsei Cancer Hospital, Children’s Hospital, and Cardiovascular Hospital with specialized cancer centers such as the Colon Cancer Center. Because the space within the hospital is large, it is difficult for visitors to find their destination at once, so signage and notices were created in places frequently visited by visitors, such as the CT examination room, to increase convenience. Frequently visited destinations were set based on statistics received from VOC.

The hospital posted a large signage that three-dimensionally expressed the location of special convenience facilities for patients visiting the hospital, such as adult diaper changing tables, family assistance restrooms, stoma and urinary stoma restrooms, and nursing rooms. Patients, guardians, and visitors with babies can use the facility easily and conveniently.

◆ Park Se-yeol, a second-year student at Korea University’s Department of Medicine, received the 2024 Korean Society of Preventive Medicine Student Academic Award.

Park Se-yeol, a second-year student at Korea University College of Medicine, won the gold medal for best performance at the 2024 Fall Korean Society of Preventive Medicine Student Academic Award Contest held at BEXCO, Busan on October 25.

This year marks the 12th anniversary of the Student Academic Award. Among 21 papers nationwide, 4 papers that passed the first round of screening were given the opportunity to participate in an oral storytelling contest. Student Se-Yeol Park received the award for his paper titled ‘Contrasting Effects of El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) on Influenza A Seasonality across Different Regions of the World’. I was honored.

Student Park Se-yeol said, “It was meaningful to have the opportunity to study and present the factors that affect the seasonality of influenza.” He added, “I will work harder until I submit the paper, and I am grateful to my advisor and lab teachers.” He expressed the significance of the research and his thoughts on receiving the award.
