Medical organizations such as the Korean Medical Association and the Korean Academy of Medical Sciences requested mediation to resolve the medical crisis from the Korean Religious Leaders’ Association (Jongjihyeop, CEO Jinwoo Jinwoo).

On the 22nd, representatives of medical organizations, including Chairman Lim Hyun-taek of the Korean Medical Association, held a meeting with religious leaders such as Venerable Jin-woo, General Secretary of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, and Lee Yong-hoon, Chairman of the Korean Catholic Bishops’ Conference, at the Korean Buddhist History and Culture Memorial Hall in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and said, “The medical community must somehow handle this situation.” I want to solve it. “If the religious community creates conditions for mediation with the government, the medical community is also willing to normalize medical care so that the public no longer has to worry,” he said. Lee Jin-woo, president of the Korean Medical Association, said, “If the government policy had been implemented gradually through continuous and rational discussions with the medical field, this would not have been the case,” and added, “More than anything, it is very unfortunate that the training and medical school education system is collapsing.”

In response to this, Venerable Jinwoo, the representative chairman of the Jongjihyeop, said, “We will try to mediate so that the government and the medical community can consult with each other to resolve the public’s inconvenience. “Please tell me the medical community’s position candidly,” he replied. Lee Yong-hoon, chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea, said, “The Catholic Bishops’ Conference also discussed in detail issues related to the medical gap, the lives and inconveniences of the people, essential medical care, and medical fee issues. “I feel regretful that if we had handled it more carefully, the situation would not have come to this point,” he said.

In addition to Venerable Jinwoo and Chairman Lee Yong-hoon, the meeting was attended by Won-Buddhist Correctional Center Director Na Sang-ho, Confucianist Choi Jong-soo, Sungkyunkwan Director, Cheondogyo Preceptor Yoon Seok-san, National Medical University Professors Association President Kim Chang-soo, and National Medical University Professors Emergency Response Committee Professor Park Pyeong-jae. The Isthmus Association plans to create an intervention plan based on the plan proposed by medical groups and propose it to the government.
