Meeting of the representatives of the Buddhist Federation with the army chief

A delegation of the Buddhist Federation met the Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman.

On Thursday, the leaders of the Buddhist Federation paid a courtesy call on the army chief at the army headquarters.

The second largest Buddhist religious festival ‘Shubh Prabarana’ is going to be held on October 16. All the Buddhists of the world including Bangladesh celebrate the festival with great religious dignity and solemnity. On this occasion, various programs were organized for Buddhists in Buddhist villages, townships and viharas for a week.

In order to maintain the atmosphere of peace, order and harmony during this festival, the delegation of Bangladesh Buddhist Federation held a courtesy meeting with the army chief and discussed security issues. They also invited the army chief to participate in the festival.

Meanwhile, the army chief promised to provide financial and security cooperation on the occasion of the celebration of ‘Shub Prabarana’ and ‘Kathin Cheebar Donation’ in the plains as well as Chittagong Hill Tracts. Besides, he personally thanked the members of the delegation for the assurance of taking all the activities to ensure the safety of the festivals in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

The army chief said that the Bangladesh Army is working closely to ensure the security of the minority community. At present, on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja, the army is deployed in districts across the country to ensure the security of the pujamandaps.

The army chief said that every Bangladeshi regardless of caste religion will celebrate their respective religious festivals in a very festive atmosphere – this is the expectation of the army.
