“Jesus is coming, are you ready?”
A sequel to Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection is still in the works. The movie Resurrection, which continues the story of the 2004 film, does not yet have a distributor, and the premiere date is not clear either.
However, Gibson is Italpressin currently with an 11-person working group in Malta looking for possible filming locations.
In addition to Malta, the sequel is planned to be filmed in Israel, Morocco and Italy.
As the name suggests, The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection tells about the resurrection of Jesus. It stars Jim Caviezel again.
2004’s The Passion of the Christ told about the last 12 hours of Jesus and was a huge hit. It grossed around $612 million on a budget of just $32 million. The film garnered criticism for its violence and was also considered by some to be anti-Semitic.
