She has been called the worst first lady of all time. She did not comment. But now, it seems, the time for reckoning has come. On October 8, just a few weeks before the US presidential election in early November, a book with the simple title Melania is published in the US.
“As a very reserved person who has often been under the public eye and misrepresented, I feel a duty to clarify the facts,” says the author Melania Trump in a black and white video trailer of the book that is doing the rounds on social media. “I think it’s important to show my perspective – the truth.”
How much is the truth? Melania’s won’t come cheap. In comparison, the book Michelle Obama Becoming is on sale on Amazon for $11.32, and current First Lady Jill Biden’s memoir Where the Light Enters is $16.99 — admittedly, these are books from a few years ago and therefore cheaper — and you can buy Melania’s brand new Melania in three versions, the one for collectors, which is signed and promises 48 “never before published photos”costs $150, while the cheaper version is $75 autographed and $40 unsigned.
Historically important! We don’t know what the book says yet, no reviewer has rated it yet, we can only rely on the words of the publisher and Melanie herself. This publishing house, by the way, is not a reputable publishing house, where presidents and their wives usually publish their books, Skyhorse Publishing is known mainly for having already published several memoirs of people from Trump’s circle. Melania, says the label, “will be a deeply personal memoir in which she writes about surprising childhood experiences, her international modeling career, and her time as First Lady of the United States”. So that’s it “historically important record”they add. What kind “surprising childhood experiences” could it be? It will have to wait until October.
Several books have already been written about Melania – mostly unflattering – but this time she will speak about herself for the first time, although we do not know if she actually wrote the book herself. No one mentions a possible co-author, but we do know that after all these decades in America, her English is still as hard as chopping wood… But maybe she writes better than she speaks?

The reactions on social media were brutal. One wrote that Melania is stealing (again), recalling that years ago, when she was the first lady, she allegedly plagiarized part of Michelle Obama’s speech. Someone wrote that it is a book “like a box of matches from a funeral home”.
