Men cry differently | Sieve & Sieve

Men cry less and with greater restraint than women, according to a study published in Germany, which also states that women cry from 30 to 64 times a year, in contrast to men who do it between six and 17 times.

Such a big difference manifests itself only in adolescence, since up to the age of 13 both boys and girls cry equally often, according to research by the German Association of Ophthalmologists.

In adulthood, the difference becomes deeper in terms of the frequency of crying, but also its duration.

Men cry for two to four minutes, while women cry for an average of six minutes.

Women’s crying lasts longer and is much more dramatic, said Professor Elisabeth Mesmer from the Association of German Ophthalmologists.

Research has also shown that men and women do not cry for the same reasons.

Men often cry out of sympathy or because of failures in relationships with the environment, while women shed tears when they do not feel up to the task, when they remember past events or when they are faced with conflicts.
