‘Mental agony over debt’, woman commits suicide in Sitakunda

Bibi Khadija aka Putul Begum in Sitakunda (৫০) A woman committed suicide. Madhya Mahmudabad of Barbakunda Union of Upazila on Monday morning (Baharia Bari) This incident happened in the area. Deceased Putul Begum is the wife of Zahirul Islam of that area.

The relatives of the deceased said, The deceased doll has taken loans from several NGOs. Weekly installments were supposed to be paid to the two NGOs yesterday morning. He also had an argument with his son Abdul Alim about the installment money on Sunday night. The son left the house angry with his mother without paying the installments. Putul committed suicide by hanging himself at night. Police said about the witness, At any time of the night, the woman committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope attached to the wall of her house. Seeing the door open in the morning, his younger son Abdul Aziz Sayem entered his mother’s room. After entering, he saw the mother’s hanging body inside and shouted to the neighbors. Later the matter was brought to the notice of the local UP member. When he reported the matter to the police station, they came to the spot and recovered the body.

The victim’s brother Ashiq said, His sister was married to a man from North Bengal. After the marriage, the sister-in-law ran away leaving her sister with two sons in their house. Since then the doll was living in their house with the boys. He took loans from several NGOs for his sons and household expenses.

Ashiq said, Putul was in a lot of mental agony about paying the installments. monday (yesterday) Installment people will come to collect the money in the morning. And if he cannot pay, he will be humiliated by them. So I think my sister chose to commit suicide to get rid of the pressure of paying installments.

Barbakund UP Chairman Chadakat Ullah Miyaji said, The dead woman was very poor. He was supposed to pay the installments of two NGOs today. The woman committed suicide due to stress due to not being able to collect the installments. After talking to the police, arrangements have been made to bury the dead woman’s body.

Sitakunda police station OC Kamal Uddin said, Based on the information of the local representative, the hanging body of the dead woman was recovered. Later, on the request of the UP Chairman and UP members, the body was allowed to be buried without post-mortem. A wrongful death case has been filed at the police station in this regard.
