Mercedes-Benz has published the first images of the future electric CLA. The new model will be launched in 2025

The German manufacturer has published the first images of the prototype of the future electric CLA. The compact electric sedan is due to be launched in 2025.

About a year ago, Mercedes-Benz presented the CLA concept to show the direction in which it will go with the successor of this model. The launch of the new electric CLA is approaching, and Mercedes-Benz has published the first photos of one of the prototypes.

For now, the car is camouflaged, with the third-generation CLA unveiled last weekend at the 39th Festival d’Hyères held at Villa Noailles in southeastern France. Like the current generation, the new model retains the slim coupe silhouette that reminds us of the CLS, the car that set the tone for this segment. That model is no longer part of the Mercedes-Benz lineup, as its production ended last year.

On the sides we can also see two doors, which means that we are dealing with a plug-in hybrid or that the electric version will have two charging ports.

The next generation Mercedes-Benz CLA will be offered in several versions

right Engine1the platform on which the new CLA will be built, namely MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture), will support both thermal engines and fully electric variants. Considering how the front of the car has been camouflaged, we’re inclined to believe that this prototype is all-electric. We also notice the lack of exhausts, another sign that leads us to think that the prototype uses an electric propulsion system.

The design looks more like an evolution of the current model, but it also borrows key elements from the CLA concept that was presented last year. For now, the manufacturer has not provided specifications for its future model, but the concept promised 750 kilometers of autonomy on a single charge in the WLTP test cycle.
