Mercedes: bigger batteries coming for EQE and EQS

Mercedes-Benz announces major updates for its EQE and EQS electric models in the US for 2025. The company will increase battery capacity and introduce the new electric G580, previously known as EQG.

The most significant update concerns the increase in battery capacity for the EQE and EQS models. The EQE 350+ and EQE 500 variants will be equipped with a 96 kWh battery, up from the current 90.6 kWh. This should allow the EQE 350+, to overcome the 550 kilometers with a single charge.

As for the EQS, battery capacity will increase from 108 kWh to 118 kWh. Although Mercedes has not yet provided official EPA range data, it is estimated that the EQS 450+, can exceed 600 km thanks to the larger battery and updated regenerative braking software.

Timings and incentives

Mercedes predicts that the electric G580 will be available in dealerships by the end of 2024, while the updated EQE and EQS models will arrive in the first half of 2025.

To encourage the purchase of electric vehicles, Mercedes will offer customers the choice between a $1,000 credit on their Mercedes me Charge account or a free home wallbox.

These updates demonstrate Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to constantly improving its electric vehicle offering by increasing range. At the moment there is no news of updates for the European marketbut it’s almost a given that it will happen.
