Mercedes is recalling 27,190 S-Classes

Another recall for the S-Class, the 28th, with Mercedes-Benz recalling this time 26,260 S580s and 930 Maybach S580s built between 2021 and 2023 and equipped with the 503 horsepower 4.0-liter V8 mild hybrid engine of horses.

The cause of the recall is the Camtronic cylinder deactivation system which in case of equipment failure, the lambda control system can unintentionally pour more fuel into the cylinders, increasing the temperature of the exhaust gases.

This could lead to damage to components such as the catalytic converter and potentially cause the engine to shut down, increasing the risk of an accident.

The problem is fixed by installing new software in the engine control unit.
