Mercedes-Benz will cut production of the S-Class and the electric EQS due to falling demand for their two most luxurious sedans. The news of production cuts initially appeared as a rumor, but Mercedes soon confirmed that it was true.
The IS class and EQS are produced at a plant in Sindelfingen, Germany, which usually operates in two shifts. It will be reduced to just one shift in October, he says Jutarnji.hr.
“We continuously optimize our production network and use its high flexibility to respond to fluctuations and changing framework conditions related to geopolitical, micro and macroeconomic developments and to remain competitive. Accordingly, we are planning to adjust car production in some parts of the factory in Sindelfingen,” says the Mercedes announcement.
S-Class sales fell 22 percent in the first half of the year, with only 28,100 units delivered to customers between January and June. It is unknown whether the reduction in production will affect jobs. The factory in Sindelfingen is flexible, and it is possible to produce another model there.

It is known when the electric Mercedes C class will be released
An electric Mercedes C-Class is coming in two years, according to CEO Ola Källenius.
The electric sedan will be introduced with the GLC-Class electric SUV, right after the CLA-Class electric models and the CLA-based crossover SUV.
While the CLA models will use the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), the C-Class and GLC-Class EV models will use the MB.EA platform.
The electric version of the C-Class will have different styling from the petrol model with a focus on aerodynamics and an expected range of around 480km or more.
