Messenger may return to the Facebook app

Nine years ago, Facebook decided to separate the messaging app from Facebook. After the initial indignation, users resigned themselves to the fact that a separate app was needed to manage messages. Over time, many liked the fact that a light and fast application is enough for messages, without having to open Facebook all the time. However, the world has changed nicely, and Facebook has a lot of competitors. One of them is Tik Tok, which is attracting more and more users.

With the new integration of Messenger, Facebook primarily wants to make it easier to share content, so that people can respond to newly discovered content more easily and quickly. It is a fact that Tik Tok attracts the younger generation more skillfully, and this is partly due to the fact that last year was quite sad for Facebook. Not only has the user database stagnated, but the company also has to face the fact that the average age is increasing.

By the way, Facebook already started the transformation at the beginning of last year, when it repeatedly modified the algorithm that selects the elements that appear in the news feed. The stated purpose of this was that with the help of the social service provider, users could not only keep in touch with acquaintances, but also discover new content. Thanks to the amendments, by the end of last year it was possible to achieve that Facebook had 2 billion daily active users.

Tom Alison, who has been leading the development of the Facebook application since 2021, said that the past 20 years of Facebook have been about how to keep in touch with friends as closely as possible online, but the next 20 years will be about discovery, i.e. how connected with people we want to get to know – in fact, in the future, Facebook will also tell us who the people are worth getting in touch with.
