Meta presents the Orion prototype, it is supposed to be the most advanced AR glasses in the world

Meta continues to believe in virtual/augmented reality and confirms its commitment with the newly launched Orion product. These are glasses with augmented reality, which are still only a prototype, but all Meta employees and selected external users get access to it.

Meta certainly does not spare superlatives, calling Orion the most advanced company AR glasses at all, for which several fundamental innovations had to be created. The meta boasts above all the new silicon carbidewhich obviously wants to reach other industries as well. Unfortunately press release does not go into deeper technical details, but the product page reveals that the display works through micro LED projectors that create a holographic image directly in the slide with a 70-degree FOV. The glasses thus still function as glasses through which you can look at the “real” reality.

There are several small cameras in the frame of the glasses that scan your surroundings and, together with the sensors, are supposed to enable control with your eyes, hands or voice. But if none of these options would be “socially acceptable”, Meta EMG introduced technology with which you can control the glasses through a bracelet on your hand.

The glasses are fully wireless, and according to the available images, Meta should also supply a special case for them. Of course, there is artificial intelligence, in this case Meta AI, to help you with everyday worries. In the future, further adjustments to the display are expected to make it sharper, to make the glasses a little smaller and, above all, cheaper – but the goal is to make Orion the final product for customers.
