Metal Slug is a popular series of run and gun platformers, the first installments of which were created for arcades and Neo Geo consoles. The latest installment, titled Metal Slug: Awakening, recently debuted on the App Store.
Metal Slug: Awakening is the result of SNK’s collaboration with Timi Studios – creators of such mobile hits as Honor of Kings, Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite. This production is a mix of elements taken from the classic Metal Slug series, such as characters, weapons, enemies and missions, dressed in a slightly more modern graphic design and enriched with new ideas, such as a system for acquiring and collecting characters and an online PvP mode. Unfortunately, unlike the classic Metal Slug games (many of which can be found in the App Store), Awakening is a freemium production, which means that we will also find many mechanisms in it to encourage players to spend money on micropayments.
