How much will a subway trip cost in 2025
According to the annex of the project, the fare for one trip will increase from 3 to 5 lei, that for two trips from 6 to 10 lei, for 10 trips from 25 lei to 40 lei. The subscription for 24 hours will cost 12 lei (currently 8 lei), the one for 72 hours – 35 lei (currently 20 lei), the weekly subscription 45 lei (currently 35 lei), the monthly subscription – 100 lei ( 80 currently), the 6-month subscription – 500 lei (400 currently) and the one-year subscription 900 lei (700 currently), notes observatornews.ro.
Also, the price of the monthly subscription for blood donors will increase from 40 lei to 50 lei and that for students from 8 lei to 9 lei. 10 trips for students will cost 4 lei (currently 2.5 lei).
The last rate increase was in 2021
In the draft Order it is explained that in the last 4 years, the degree of subsidization of passenger transport by metro decreased from 57.35% in 2021, to around 50.14% in 2024, with the exception of 2022, when the degree of subsidy was 66.51%.

In the following period, Metrorex SA will take the necessary steps to adjust the travel fares for the common tickets with STB and CFR, at this stage the fares of the respective tickets will remain unchanged.
Metrorex’s revenues will increase by 10.719 million lei per month
Metro travel tickets purchased up to the day before the application of the new rates will be able to be used until the end of the number of trips or the expiration of their validity period.
