MG has prepared a new electric model Windsor EV for the Indian market, which however is nothing but a reworked version of the Chinese car Baojun Cloud.
However, the price of the Windsor EV is more interesting, which in India for the initial version is only 11,895 US dollars.
However, the battery is not part of the purchase. Instead, it is available on a rental basis, so owners of this car will have to shell out an additional $0.04 per kilometer driven. In return, they get a lifetime warranty on the battery with unlimited mileage and free charging during the first year.
If the driver exceeds 10,000 kilometers per year, he will pay $400 per year through the company’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program.
The palette includes four colors (Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige and Turquoise Green), combined with 17- or 18-inch wheels.
The interior is the same as the Chinese original, with a 15.6-inch infotainment screen (10.1 inches in the base model) and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
The top version has ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, a 9-speaker audio system, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a 360-degree camera.
The MG Windsor EV will officially be available to order in India from October 3rd, with first deliveries scheduled for October 12th.
