Michael Andretti has relinquished his ownership stake in Andretti Global. Andretti has been the head of the company since 2002 and will now remain associated with the organization in an advisory role.
Andretti Global told her:
Michael’s goal was to move into a more strategic role with Andretti Global and focus less on the operational side of the racing team.
Michael and Dan Towriss have been working closely to develop this new structure, with Michael excited to see it take shape under Dan’s guidance.
Michael remains committed and will continue to serve as a strategic advisor and key ambassador. We’ll have more to share in the coming weeks after Michael and Dan get a chance to speak to the team.
Andretti is the son of racing legend Mario Andretti, the F1 world champion in 1978. Michael Andretti’s decision to retire comes a few months after rejecting Formula 1 for his team to enter the championship in the next two years.
