Michael Zorc returns to BVB

Michael Zorc, long-time sports director at Borussia Dortmund, is about to return to BVB.

The Black and Yellows announced this on Monday. Accordingly, Zorc should become a new member of the supervisory board at Borussia Dortmund.

At the upcoming general meeting in November, the 62-year-old will be proposed for election together with Christian Schmid. In this case, the members’ vote is just a formality.

On the supervisory board, Zorc and Schmid are to replace the previous members Christian Kullmann and Bodo Löttgen, who have decided to leave.

“We would like to thank Christian Kullmann and Bodo Löttgen for their many years of service on the Supervisory Board. Christian Kullmann has headed the Supervisory Board for many years. He has done a great job, always maintained the necessary critical distance and reliably fulfilled his duties at all times. All other previous members of the supervisory board – Judith Dommermuth, Silke Seidel, Matthias Bäumer, Bernd Geske, Dr. Reinhold Lunow, Ulrich Leitermann and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Pellens – are running again and will be proposed for re-election by the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting on November 25th.

Zorc as a legend at BVB

Christian Schmid is Group General Counsel at Evonik Industries AG in Essen.

Michael Zorc is BVB’s Bundesliga record player (463 appearances). In 1997 he won the Champions League with Borussia. He was at the club for 44 years – 20 as a player, captain and fan idol, 24 in sports management.

In the summer of 2022, he left BVB after a total of 44 years and passed on his position as sports director to Sebastian Kehl.

Zorc is currently a member of the supervisory board of the listed IT service provider Adesso.
