Almost all of us would like to have unlimited fast storage on our computer. With the new SSD disk from Micron, this reality has come a little closer.
New 6550 ION SSD the drive offers a total of 60 TB of space and is the first drive with such a capacity to offer a PCIe 5.0 interface. Of course, such a disk will probably not get into the hands of end customers, but it is an interesting combination of a high-capacity SSD together with a PCIe interface.
The drive has an E3.S form-factor with the eighth generation of Micron 3D NAND. It should reach a speed of 12 GB/s for both writing and reading, and this with a consumption of 20W. In idle mode, the drive should consume only 4W. What is all this for? Probably like a large part of technology today, this SSD drive is primarily intended for working with AI. Because of this, Micron did not reveal the price of this drive, as it will depend on the quantity taken.
