Microsoft Designer app now available on iOS and Android platforms with AI editing and creation

Microsoft’s application Designer, which uses artificial intelligence, comes out of the preview phase and becomes available for iOS and Android users. Microsoft Designer allows users to use templates to create custom images, stickers, greeting cards, invitations, and more. In addition, Designer uses AI to edit and restyle images or create collages.

Originally available on the web or through Microsoft Edge, the Designer app has been in preview for almost a year. It is now generally available to anyone with a personal Microsoft account and as a free app for Windows, iOS and Android. The mobile application includes the ability to create and edit images on the go.

Microsoft Designer includes a standard text prompt for generating images, but it also has a large selection of templates that you can use to create greeting cards, social media posts, icons, backgrounds, coloring pages, and more. The app also features an avatar creator, which encourages you to use it on the mobile version of the app.

You can also use Designer to edit images using AI, allowing you to restyle existing images or frame them with decorative AI-generated frames. Designer also includes the ability to edit and remove backgrounds, remove people or objects from images, as well as add text and branding to images.

While Microsoft Designer is available today as a standalone application, Microsoft has also made it possible to use Designer through Copilot in applications such as Word and PowerPoint. Copilot Pro subscribers can create images and designs directly within Word and PowerPoint, and Microsoft is adding a new banner generator for Word documents soon.

Windows Insiders will also get access to the Designer within the Photos app on Windows 11 today, with features like object deletion, background removal, automatic cropping, and filters all available directly in Photos. Microsoft has been testing sending images from Photos to Designer, but now integrates the features directly into Photos so you don’t have to leave the app. Similar features are coming soon to Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Designer is coming out of the preview phase with 15 free daily “boosts” that can be used to create or edit AI-powered images and designs. “Boosts are used automatically when you create or edit images or designs, both in the Designer application and where Designer is integrated into Microsoft applications,” says Sumit Chauhan, corporate vice president of the Microsoft Office product group. “You can upgrade to a Copilot Pro subscription to get 100 boosts per day.”
