Microsoft has announced new updates to its Microsoft Designer app Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), with new apps for iOS and Android smartphones.
The app, now accessible with a personal Microsoft account, allows users to create and edit visual content by simply describing what they want to see. This removes the “blank canvas” barrier, providing a starting point based on textual descriptions.
New Features in Microsoft Designer
New Microsoft Designer Features to Boost Creativity
Microsoft Designer has introduced a number of innovative features to both its mobile app and the web. The experience begins with a new home page, redesigned based on feedback received during the preview. This new interface is designed to help you get started quickly with any creation or edit you want to make. New features include prompt templates that facilitate the creative process, allowing users to experiment and customize ideas, styles, and descriptions to bring their projects to life.
One of Designer’s most notable features is the ability to create custom stickers, emojis, graphic art, wallpapers, monograms, avatars, and more, all from a simple description. This functionality is ideal for standing out on messaging apps and social media. Additionally, Designer allows you to create custom greeting cards and invitations by describing the message or theme you want to convey, simplifying the process of designing unique and meaningful content for special events.
Another advanced feature is the option to transform photos into works of art by changing styles. Users can upload an image, choose a style and add additional details to get a new custom-created image.
You can also create custom photo frames and collages by describing or selecting styles to give your memories a personal touch. Microsoft is committed to continually improving Designer, and the background replacement feature will be rolling out soon in select markets.
With 15 free daily boosts and the option to subscribe to Copilot Pro for 100 daily boosts, Designer continues to make it easy to create and edit AI-powered images.
Microsoft Designer Integrated into Applications
Microsoft Copilot integration in applications such as Word and PowerPoint is one of the most notable improvements. This integration allows users to generate images and designs directly within their documents and presentations, improving the creative workflow.
To create an image in Word or PowerPoint, click the Copilot icon and describe the image you want to generate. Coming soon to Word, you can request the creation of a banner for your document and the design will be automatically generated based on the content of the document.
Also in Microsoft Photosalthough for now only available to Windows Insiders, users will be able to edit photos to erase objects, remove backgrounds, automatically crop, make adjustments, apply filters, add markup, or even add text without interrupting their workflow.
In the future, features similar to those included in Microsoft Photos will be implemented in Microsoft Edge, allowing convenient use directly from the browser.
Microsoft Designer on Mobile
The mobile version includes powerful features such as creating images and designs from text descriptions and advanced photo editing, allowing users to work on their creative projects anywhere, anytime.
According to the Corporate Vice President of the Office Products Group at Microsoft, Sumit Chauhan, «The real power of Designer is the ability to access it whenever and wherever it is most useful in your daily life to keep you in your creative flow.«.
With these improvements, Microsoft Designer is positioned as an essential tool for anyone looking to explore their creativity with the support of AI. Ease of use, combined with integration into the Microsoft ecosystem, promises a fluid and efficient design experience.
